Yayoi Kusama
Yayoi Kusama's artwork shows how art can translate across borders and cultures. Her art work is a way to keep herself grounded to reality, especially when Kusama herself struggles with severe mental illness. This underlying theme with her work is universal across different worlds, mental illness can effect anyone regardless of where you are from and how you are raised. Her work encourages important discussions regarding mental health awareness and removing the stigma seen with severe mental illnesses. My Piece
Many of Yayoi Kusama's piece do not have names, I took inspiration for my piece from a variety of her pieces, most specifically her piece where she varies the dots sizes throughout to create a unique depth. I made this piece by hand with fine-line markers I had in my room.
